Long lasting tradition of malting
Favourable climatic and soil conditions in the Czech Republic create ideal background for the growing of malting barley - raw material for the production of malt which has a long tradition in the Czech Republic. Not only first-rate quality of raw material but also skilled maltsters, high technical and technological level of production facilities and last but not least quality, hygiene and other standards keeping contribute to the great reputation of Czech and Moravian malt.
Annual malt production of 352 000 t of Sladovny Soufflet CR, a. s. makes approximately 60 % of total Czech annual production. Part of Soufflet CR production has been supplied to majority of domestic breweries and approximately 2/3 of produced malt has been delivered to the foreign market.
In 2001, SLADOVNY SOUFFLET ČR, a. s. became part of the Soufflet Group, one of the world biggest malt producer.
Malt house of Prostejov, today´s headquarters of Sladovny Soufflet CR, a. s., started its first malting campaign as early as 1869. The youngest malt house in Kromeriz produced first malt batches in 1997.
Malt house of Prostejov has been producing 34 000 t of malt on two fully computerised Lausmann production lines.
Malt house of Nymburk has put into the operation new cooling system recently. Today it produces 108 000 t of malt per year also thanks to the new tandem kiln which has been working here since 2003.
Malt house of Kroměříž, part of Sladovny Soufflet CR, a. s. since 2001, thanks to its technical and technological parameters, fulfils requirements of most exacting and hard-to-please customers. Actual production capacity is 100 000 t of malt per year.
Hodonice malt house has been passing through various reconstructions over last 10 years, thanks to which it has reached today´s capacity of 100 000 t of malt.
Malt house of Litovel is focused mainly on the production of special types of malt from barley and wheat. After new roaster was installed in 2008, the roasted malt production of the site has grown to 10 500 t annually.
Company Sladovny Soufflet CR, a. s. is a holder of the historical trade mark TCHECOMALT that was known already in the 20th of the last century. The trade mark has been used by our malting houses for exports of the Czech malt worldwide since the beginning of their existence.
Barley purchase
Barley procurement is organized by the company Soufflet Agro a. s. through the network of its representatives. Purchase concentrates especially on the barley varieties approved and required by client breweries.
Company has been established in the Groupe Soufflet especially because of the necessity of assistance and advisory to be given to the farmers on higher professional level and to enable coverage of wider range of their activities.
Quality
Fulfilment of the quality parameters and requirements of health safety of purchased barley, produced and delivered malt is assured by implemented Quality Management System (QMS). The system has been developed and consequently certified in accordance with the ISO 9001:2001 norm.
In 2006 – 2007 ISO system was integrated together with the Environmental Protection and the Safety at Work Systems into one norm. In spring 2007 Integrated Management System was certified according to international rules ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
